Taras Yoom (born Taras Zheltyshev) is an award-winning artist based in Bangkok, a participant in multiple international exhibitions in Brussels, Milan, Paris, Bangkok, Beijing, and New York, and the creator of the Yoomoota collection, known for incorporating his knowledge of biology and nature into design and art projects with a personalized approach. Before receiving his degree in medicine and unfolding his creativity in a hospital, he turned his attention to art. This blend of experiences led to the fusion of design, artistic expression, and biophysics in his mind. Today, he defines his style as biomorphic surrealism. The multidisciplinary artworks span sculptures, paintings, collectible design objects, furniture, and more. Drawing inspiration from the multidimensional and deeply investigative methodology of the master Leonardo da Vinci, the artist engages with art as a sophisticated means of exploring the intricate interplay between humanity and the world. Taras Yoom articulates this as meta-art, a discipline that examines the entirety of life's phenomena, echoing Da Vinci's pursuits during the epoch of the High Renaissance. In his works, Yoom sets a new art trend that combines natural forms and lines of the human body with animation style and pertinent surrealism elements. The Yoomoota creations beautifully blend organic elements with functionality, blurring the boundaries between visible reality and the hidden natural processes of living organisms. The Yoomoota universe reflects our inner world and the natural structure of a human being, serving as a projection of our bodies and minds. This art world, consisting of handcrafted and innovative pieces, is a profound representation of our universe, resembling a parallel realm with its planets and inhabitants. Yoom’s masterpieces are included in museum collections, such as the Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in Chicago and the Red Dot Design Museum in Xiamen. Artisanal creations have also been featured at international fairs such as PAD, Collectible, Maison&Objet, and Define Seoul. Sculptures, collectible furniture, and paintings have gained recognition from Financial Times, Harper's Bazaar, Hypebeast, GQ, and other notable publications.
